The affinity purified rabbit polyclonal anti-HDAC1 antibody is developed using the C-terminal peptide of human histone deacetylase 1. It could be used for detection and isolation of HDAC-1.

The antibody recognizes human HDAC-1. It may cross-react with HDAC-1 from other species.

Histone deacetylases (HDAC) are a class of enzymes that remove acetyl groups from the ε-N-acetyl lysine amino acid on histones or other proteins. Its action is opposite to that of histone acetyltransferase.

HDAC proteins are found in three groups, the first two groups belong to the classical HDACs whose activities are inhibited by trichostatin A (TSA). The third group is a family of NAD+- dependent proteins unaffected by TSA. Homologues to all three groups are found in yeast: reduced potassium dependency 3 (Rpd3) corresponding to class 1, histone deacetylase 1 (hda1) to class 2 and silent information regulator 2 (Sir 2) corresponding to class 3.
