DESCRIPTION:   Recombinant HIV-2 (Rod) core p26 protein is  produced as a Glutathione S-transferase (GST) fusion  protein in the E.coli expression system. 

PURIFICATION: This protein is purified by GST-agarose affinity chromotography to a purity of >98% as determined by SDS-PAGE, reduced. 

IDENTITY: This protein shows binding to HIV-2 p26 specific murine monoclonal antibody by Elisa and Western Elisa. This protein does not show binding to HIV-1 p24 specific murine monoclonal antibodies of defined epitope specificity by Elisa and Western Elisa. 

SPECIFICITY:     This protein shows binding  to HIV-2 converted human serum polyclonal antibodies as determined by ELISA and Western ELISA. This protein does not show binding to HIV-1 converted human serum antibodies as determined by dot blot Elisa assays.

BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY:  N.A

APPLICATION AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Recommended concentrations for use are approximate values.  A dose dependent response assay should be performed to determine the optimal concentration for use in specific applications.  Dilute p26 stock solution in MES buffer immediately before use. ELISA assays may be performed with p26 in solid phase in 10-100ng range.  Western ELISA may be performed in 100-500ng depending on the specificity of the primary antibody used in the test system.
