Determining the class and subclass of a monoclonal antibody is important when selecting the best purification method. IgA and IgM are often best purified by size (gel exclusion) or affinity columns, whereas IgG_2a and IgG_2b can be purified with Protein A columns at a pH of 7-8. IgG1 monoclonals bind best to Protein A at a slightly higher pH of 8-9.

Utilizing only two dipsticks, this 5-minute assay provides ELISA-like sensitivity without the time and effort of an ELISA. The assay can be run on both tissue culture supernatant fluid and on mouse ascites fluid.
