Humanepidermalgrowthfactor(EGF)–likemodulecontainingmucin-likehormonereceptor1(EMR1)isasurfacereceptorwithunknownfunctionthatbelongstotheadhesionfamilyoftheGprotein-coupledreceptors(GPCR).ThisreceptorisencodedbytheADGRE1andlikeallGPCRs,containsseventransmembranedomains,anintracellularC-terminusandanextracellularN-terminus.TheNH2domainhassixEGF-likedomains.

AdhesionGPCRssharealongN-terminalextracellularsequencescomprisingmultipledomains,separatedfromthetransmembranesegmentsbyaserine/threonine-richdomain,afeaturereminiscentofmucin-like,single-span,integralmembraneglycoproteinswithadhesiveproperties^1,2.

EMR1proteinisahomologofF4/80,amurineproteinthatiswidelybeingusedasaMarkerofmurinemacrophagepopulations¹.

HumanEMR1isexclusivelyexpressedonmatureeosinophilsinthebloodandbonemarrow andinnasalpolyps.Thus,EMR1is consideredtobeapotentialtherapeutictargetforthetreatmentofeosinophilicdisorders^1,3.
