c-Met,theproductofc-metgenehasbeenreportedtobetheHGFreceptorsinceHGFinducesphosphorylationofc-Metbybindingspecificallytoit.Itisaheterodimerproteincomposedofanα-chainthatislinkedtoaβ-chain.Theβ-chainhastheintracellulartyrosinekinasedomain,thetransmembranedomainandtheextracellulardomain,anditistiedintotheα-chainthatistheextracellulardomainofc-Met.c-Metexistsmainlyinepidermalcells.Itisfoundinthedigestivetract,prostategland,seminalvesicles,mammarygland,microgliacells,monocytesandmacrophages,andmoreamountintheliverandkidney.Itisconsideredthatc-MettansmitssignalsresultingfrombindingtoHGF,suchasgrowth,motilityandorganformation,intheorgansandcellsmentionedabove.
