Description:
This is amino acids 1735 to 1752 fragment of Notch 1 containing the gamma-secretase-like cleavage site between Gly1743 and Val1744. This Val1744 residue is conserved in the Notch family, it is critical for the cleavage of Notch 1. A corresponding Val residue exists in APP and APLP2 but not in APLP1. Notch 1 belongs to the epidermal growth factor-like family; however recent studies suggest there is a reciprocal relationship between gamma--cleavage and notch site cleavage.
