S-100 – ββ homodimer (S100b) is suitable for use as a standard in immunoassay, as an immunogen for antiserum production and tracer for iodination. Measurements of S-100 protein in serum samples of patients are useful in monitoring of traumatic brain injury, ischemic brain damage after circulatory arrests, in diagnosis and prognosis of clinical outcome in acute stroke.

Purity > 95 %. After native gel electrohoresis by Ornstein-Davis S-100b protein is presented by one band ββ-form.S-100 protein concentration was determined by Lowry method using BSA as a standard.

Lyophilized from 5 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5 with 5 mM 2-mercaptoethanol and 2 mM EDTA.Product is recommended to reconstitute with 5 mM 2-mercaptoethanol.
