Cultrex®Rat CollagenI ispurifiedfromrattailtendons and isprovidedatahighconcentrationthatiscapableofpolymerizingtoforma hydrogel.CollagenIisthemajorstructuralcomponentofextracellularmatrices(ECM)foundinconnectivetissueandinternalorgans,butismostprevalentinthedermis,tendons,andbone.Itisa300kDamoleculecomposedoftwoalpha1(I)chainsandonealpha2(I)chainthatspontaneouslyformsatriplehelixscaffoldataneutralpHand37̊C.Thisphenomenoncanbeexploitedtopromotecellattachment,growth,differentiation,migration,andtissuemorphogenesisduringdevelopment.ToprovidethemoststandardizedCollagenI,aspecialprocessisemployedtoprovidematerialatastandardconcentrationofapproximately5mg/mL.
