ThemonoclonalantibodyNK92.39reactswithCD96,alsoknownasTcell-activatedincreasedlateexpression(Tactile).CD96promotesnaturalkiller(NK)celladhesiontotargetcellsexpressingthepoliovirusreceptor(PVRorCD155).FurThermoreCD96stimulatescytotoxicityofactivatedNKcells,andmediatesacquisitionofPVRfromtargetcells.ThismeansNKcellshaveduetothereceptorCD96adualreceptorsystemthatrecognizesnectinsandnectin-likemoleculesontargetcellsandmediatesNKcellsadhesionandtriggeringofeffectorfunctions.AsPVRishighlyexpressedincertaintumors,thisreceptorsystemmaybecriticalforNKcellrecognitionoftumors.ThemonoclonalantibodyNK92.39blocksbindingofsolublepoliovirusreceptor(PVR)toNK92cells.
