TheadenosineA_2B receptorisatypicalclassA,Gprotein-coupledreceptorwithseventransmembranesegments,anextracellularN-terminusandanintracellularC-terminus.AdenosineA_2BRcausesanincreaseinintracellularcAMPlevelsbycouplingmainlytoG_s proteins,resultingintheactivationofadenylylcyclase¹ andsubsequentactivationofPKAandothercAMPeffectorssuchasEpac.Inaddition,theA_2BRcouplestoG_q andactivatesthePLCpathwaythatmediatesseveralcrucialfunctionsofA_2BR.A_2BRalsocouplestotheMAPKandarachidonicacidsignalingpathwaysandregulatesmembraneionchannelsprobablythroughG-proteinβγsubunits.
