TypeICollagenisthemostabundanttypeofcollageninthehumanbodyandisamajorstructuralproteinprevalentinskin,bone,tendon,andotherfibrousconnectivetissues.Allcollagensarecharacterizedbyasecondaryproteinstructureconsistingofthreepolypeptidechainswrappedaroundoneanotherinatriplehelicalarrangement.Thedifferenttypesofcollagenvaryintheprimaryaminoacidsequenceoftheirpolypeptidechains,withtypeIcollagenbeingcomprisedoftwoidenticalα1(I)chainsandoneα2(I)chainthatspontaneouslyformthetriplehelixinsolution.CellAdhere™TypeICollagen,Bovine,Solutionispreparedfromcollagenextractedfrombovinehideandcontainsahighmonomercontent.Itissuppliedataconcentrationofapproximately6mg/mL(0.6%)aqueoussolutionin0.01MHCl(pHatabout2.0).Startingmaterialwasisolatedfromaclosedherdandpurifiedusingahighlycontrolledmanufacturingprocess.ThisprocesscontainsvalidatedstepstoensureinactivationofpossIBLeprionand/orviralcontaminants.Productissterilitytested.Endotoxinlevelis0.1EU/mLorless,asassayedbyLimulusAmoebocyteLysateassay.
