        Duetothebroadexpressionprofileoftachykininpeptides,theirrespectivereceptorsarealsoexpressedinasimilarfashion.NK1 iswidelyexpressedinneuronsendothelialcells,muscleandimmunesystemcells.NK2 isbroadlyexpressedintheperipheryanditsexpressioninthebrainisquiterestricted.NK3 ontheotherhandislargelyexpressedinthecentralnervoussystemandisalsodetectedintheuterus,skeletalmuscle,lungandliver1.
